During the full 12 day Level 3 ITEC Sports Massage Diploma course we will complete the study of the fundamental principles of sports massage therapy including anatomy, physiology, contraindications, health and safety, professionalism and ethics, exercise training, injury prevention and management, diseases and disorders, thermal therapy and cryotherapy and practice the most commonly used sports massage techniques.
We will look at strategies for treating soft tissue injuries and postural conditions.
We aim to develop awareness of body tissues, anatomical structures, soft tissue healing mechanisms and aftercare advice.
The ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage has a pre-requisite of the ITEC Level 3 Holistic Massage Diploma. It is then comprised of ITEC Unit 27 Sports Massage. There are 3 elements - theory, practical and case studies. The main aim of the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage is to enable candidates to provide treatments for sports injuries and help improve athlete’s performance through pre and post event massage.
Case studies will be completed and students will undertake externally assessed theory and practical exams.
